Alex Sink
For nearly 30 years, Alex Sink, Tiger Bay’s next featured speaker, has been a trailblazer in the financial profession. Until her recent election as Florida’s Chief Financial Officer, her career had culminated in her rise to President of Bank of America-Florida’s largest bank. As President, Mrs. Sink managed more than $40 billion in customer deposits while being responsible for responsible supervising 9,000 employees in 800 branches. As Florida’s CFO, she will now be responsible for monitoring the state’s fiscal health and managing more than $74 billion in tax dollars coming in and out of the state. In addition to the financial accountability responsibilities, Florida’s new CFO will oversee securities and insurance issues, as well as serve as the state’s fire marshal. As the only Democrat on the Florida Cabinet, she has promised to be a strong fiscal watchdog, to review state privatizing efforts and root out waste and fraud in state contracting, and to increase investigations into insurance fraud and work to stabilize the insurance market in Florida. During the campaign season, CFO Sink received a number of endorsements from Democrats and Republicans alike; none more candid than that of former Florida State Comptroller and Republican Bob Milligan who stated “I’d rather have an experienced banker and businesswoman watching over my money than a politician any day.” Please join us when we welcome the Honorable Alex Sink to the Capital Tiger Bay Club on Friday , February 2 at the Silver Slipper.
