Susan MacManus

During election years, her voice and viewpoints on polling numbers and elections are in high demand across the nation, especially in Florida. During off election years, she conducts extensive research and analysis on Florida’s changing political landscape related to issues affecting voters, campaigns, and elections. While highly distinguished and published in the political, electoral, and voter opinion arena, Dr. Susan MacManus is not your stereotype academician (except for the tenure, of course). She was appointed by Governor Jeb Bush and selected as Chair of the Florida Elections Commission (1999-2003) and currently sits on the Governor’s Council of Economic Advisors. Her most recent co-authored book, Florida Politics: Ten Media Markets, One Powerful State, will be released in March 2004 just in time for the high profile 2004 elections in Florida. The book provides a unique region-by-region approach that focuses on Florida as a series of 10 media markets (television, radio, and print), highlighting leading issues in each media market including voter registration, recent and continuing voter registration and election trends, campaign finance, and demographic composition. A veteran of national, state, and local radio and television talk-show programs, her candid and on-point commentary should be insightful for Election 2004. Please join us in welcoming this special guest to the Capital Tiger Bay Club on Tuesday, March 30, 2004 at the Silver Slipper.
