Tom Gallagher

Who is the real Tom Gallagher? Political strategists used to say Gallagher was a great general election candidate but too moderate to win competitive Republican primaries. Over the course of the current campaign to become Florida’s next Governor, he has reiterated that he has never described himself as a moderate and embraces a number of socially conservative issues. His supporters tout that as a former Florida legislator, state education commissioner, state insurance commissioner and current Chief Financial Officer, he would bring significant experience and in-depth knowledge to the Governor’s Mansion, and represents perhaps the most qualified gubernatorial candidate in modern history. Others have expressed that it is a repackaging of the candidate that has sought the state’s highest elected office on three other occasions. Regardless of one’s view, one thing is for sure, the Republican primary for Governor between CFO Gallagher and Attorney General Charlie Crist is expected to be the most expensive and one of the most hotly contested primaries in Florida history. On Thursday, July 20, 2006, Republican Gubernatorial Candidate Tom Gallagher will present his views and thoughts to the Capital Tiger Bay Club membership. This meeting will be held at the Silver Slipper.
