Tom Lee
Wednesday, January 26, 2005
He has been characterized as candid and controversial, and is well known among his colleagues and peers as independent and for sticking to his principles. Unfriendly to special interests, at times adversarial to the governor, he is unafraid to speak his mind and “does not put any sugar on it.” He has taken on lobbyists with a vigor (just ask Steve Uhlfelder) and seeks to have a long-term, more stable fiscal plan for Florida. Tiger Bay’s next speaker, Florida Senate President Tom Lee assumes the Senate leadership with no shortage of issues: disaster recovery funding and rebuilding, the state’s continued emphasis on privatization, rumblings of the Legislature for “rewriting the Florida Constitution,” and the funding and governance of higher education in Florida. If only he would weigh-in on the virtues of the Chiropractic dilemma at FSU (question anyone?). Senator Lee, who hails from District 10 in the Tampa area, will provide his thoughts on the key issues facing Florida on Wednesday, January 26 at the Silver Slipper. Please remember if you are coming to lobby the Senator, he wears a “No Trespassing” tattoo on his chest!
