Diane (DK) Roberts
Whether it’s the American court of Catherine de Medicis, the Tallahassee court of Katherine Harris, Henry Flagler’s boardroom-not to mention his bedroom-or Jeb Bush’s statehouse you are likely to find a branch or a root of Tiger Bay’s next guest’s family growing entangled nearby. As or more importantly, Diane Roberts, acclaimed journalist, author, and NPR commentator is not shy about sharing her family’s secrets-over eight generation’s worth. Her most recent book, Dream State: Eight Generations of Swamp Lawyers, Conquistadors, Confederate Daughters, Banana Republicans, and Other Florida Wildlife, exposes the REAL people whom Carl Hiaasen and Elmore Leonard have been fictionalizing for years and ultimately reveals the cogs and wheels that make our state tick. She undoubtedly will have her perspective on our most recent electoral outcome in Florida as well as the inside perspective about our recent and not so recent past. She is a Distinguished Alumna of Florida State University and earned her Doctorate from Oxford University. While she resides abroad during the year, splitting time in London, the University of Alabama, and Tallahassee, she calls Tallahassee her home “because that is where the football is.” A limited number of books will be made available for sale (check or cash only) and for personal book signings. Please come and welcome this special guest to the Capital Tiger Bay Club!
